QuikTrip – King of Convenience Stores

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

If you don’t have a quiktrip in your town your missing out. I have never seen a better store for all of those goodies with almost no nutritional values. But QT is different…They even have fruit and salad and health drinks.

Now do I get that healthy stuff? Hell no… It will take a doctor to tell me that there is very limited time if I don’t change my ways… But even that may not make me go into a health food frenzy.

I remember back in the day QT used to have “Quittin Time Beer”
There would be commercials on the TV with a dog named Lamar to help serve the ghetto sud’s.

I wonder if those sud’s where better than the “Beast” That would be “Milwaukee’s best” in party lingo… Or, I think that’s how it went… Maybe it was Meister Brow… Hmmm? Help a brother blogger out huh?

Movie Review: Hancock

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

I like super hero movies… I saw Batman The Dark Knight Recently… Very Kewl.

Hancock is certainly a different take on Super Hero movies…This guy is a drunk with super human powers (like Superman) and has an attitude of FTW… If you know what im saying…

He is always tearing up stuff as he saves people and catches bad guys… He seems to have no guidance or morals when it comes to how he get’s the job done… Very interesting.

He then saves a guys life that becomes his friend and “consultant” on how bo become a cherished super hero instead of one considered to be an “asshole”

I also checke out “The Bucket List ” this weekend… It was a moving story about 2 guys that are termanally ill and create a list of things to do before they “kick the bucket” Great story and photogrphy as they travel worldwide… Almost holding back tears at the end… I hate that… :)

Weekend movie nights… Been neglecting my blogs but hope to do better.

Review: Beatles Magical Mystery Tour

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

I have always thought that Magical Mystery Tour could have been recorded in the garage somewhere… Or some of it anyways… It’s not all that great of a recording.  Even though it is a great record over all…

George Martin has been hailed as such a great producer…And he was…But there are many other records from this period that have as good or better recordings.  The song “magical mystery tour” is paticarly noisy and muddy.

I remember back when the early Beatles CD’s first came out… They were all released in mono… To preserve the “original” recordings… They “fake stereo” vinyl records sound better.

Anyways, Magical has some magical music on it… I like the song “flying“… It is the picture of 60’s psychedelia… Love that trippy guitar.

The string arangements on “I am the Walarus” has to be the best in rock and roll. And that saxaphone (I think) playing on “Baby im a Rich Man” is the most bizarre horn part I have ever heard. That is Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones playing that… Miss that guy.

Other Highlighs

  • Hello Goodbuy - Great guitar line and simple lyrical message.
  • Your Mother Should Know - Dance to a song before your mother was born
  • Strawberry Fields Forever - Maybe the best John lennon Song ever.

I am here as you are here as we are all together - John Lennon

Website Review - MySpace.com

Published by davestuff under Web Edit This

Hey, you ever heard of myspace ? I remember hearing those words years ago. It was brand new then and growing strong… So, I of course joined. See here !

Many web geeks then (and now) can’t stand myspace. But for all the sexual/dating/flirting/cheating computer novices that just want to have fun-You can’t beat it. It has to be the biggest free internet meat market on the net. Why join some kind of paid dating site when there are millions to choose from on MySpace. (If that’s where you go to get dates anyways)

I have been fed up with myspace in the past while having difficulties with a girlfriend that I met there. She seemed to enjoy the excitement on the website more than me. Still, I keep my profile up and check it from time to time… I sometimes promote my blogs on there to try and build my pathetic traffic stats.

Do you like to surf pages at myspace? I always find it hard to read most pages as they tend to put up all kinds of gadgets and background pictures… Gee, It reminds me of yahoo geocities. This is the reason a lot of web designers don’t like myspace.

Profits

People sure can have a good time. With all of those “theme” sites out there. So many people are cashing in on myspace’s success…Especially Myspace itself.  (800 million in revenue 2008) And, they don’t even have to add content… It’s members do plenty of that. They just monitor the datacenter and fight hackers… No need to actually write anything.

Why don’t some of those cat’s come over here to Today and add content and make a little money on the side…But wait… This blog network isn’t a meat market is it?

TV Review - The Shield Series Finally

Published by davestuff under tv Edit This

Well, my favorite TV showThe Shield ” has come to an end. I wrote a review about it awhile back. I got addicted to it years ago when channel surfing one night when I was bored.

They more or less wrapped up the characters as best they could while keeping the violent crime and disturbing images rolling on the last show. Those guys have come to be my friends :) Sorry to see their lives just got so screwed up.

The last show was actually quite depressing. To see that knucklehead Shane kill his wife and kid’s and then take his own life was just pitiful… And the fact that Vic lied to his loyal partner and let him go on to be convicted of all of his wrongdoings was pitiful too.

Oh, you could say that Vic’s life got screwed too even though he saved his own skin. He now has to work at a desk for years and his family got put into protective custody to protect them from his twisted justice kind of ways. So now he NEVER get’s to see his wife and kid’s again. Gee he always seemed to put his family first…Whatever…. That silly guy.

I noticed the black cop’s character which they let fade away a few season’s ago was taking a hard look at some gay guys that were happily chasing each other around on the streets. I assume he was wishing he were doing the same. He got married to a girl but her character was never heard from again. I assume he stayed with her but would still prefer a “boyfriend”

Yep, Ronnie had to go to prison because Vic got immunity and then lied to him saying that it was for the both of them…Remember he needed to protect his “family” Vic’s a family man you know? (I just keep hammering on this one)

Dutch is still finding serial killers and that 2 faced David is going to be mayor finally… Everybody got what they wanted…Except the “strike team” Crime doesn’t ever really pay does it?

Vic and the Boys… Have a good time! You will be missed…

ScribeFire - Free Blogging Software Review

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

I have been using scribefire for a few months now when I jumped on the blogging train. It is amazing at how fast it is to get used to the software and how much you come to depend on it to manage blog’s

It uses the FireFox browser which I prefer more than Internet Explorer. Now you can simply post to a blog without ever leaving Firefox … It’s handy to be able to surf sites and type the post at the same time.

It’s unfortunate that Today.com doesn’t seem to support the software.. Maybe because it has an “ad” feature on it to post ad’s on your site but I haven’t been able to get that to work anyways… And on my other blog’s I haven’t made much money from ad’s anyways. So I blog out of passion to make my silliness public - Not to make money.

ScribeFire is popular software and makes blogging a snap. You should download it and use it if your not already! You dig?

Used Cars - South Pointe Chrysler Tulsa

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

My girlfriend and I went and did a little light mini van shopping over the holiday. Just to see what happens. We went over to South Pointe Chrysler in Tulsa . There was a used van we found there on the internet that seemed pretty cheap for us poor people.

My girl filled out the online application and immediately got approved for a loan..WOW what a trip huh? Neither one of us has good credit anymore..We were just looking to see what would happen. They called and wanted us to come on out…So we did…

We were greeted by a smiling guy as soon as we pulled up that seemed a bit over eager to help us… You know how these car lots are. He would ask us some questions and then tell us to wait as he went and talked to somebody else. - A manager or something.

Then came a hipster “credit manager” that seemed pretty cool.. He was typing a lot of things into the computer. He said that the internet application was “lost” and that he had to do a new one…Strange… Then he told the sales’ guy to go ahead and have her Honda Accura apprased for trade in…Then they both said to wait and they would be back after while…. Lot’s of waiting at these car lots…

The “cool” dude with the Ozzy Crazy train ring tone on his cell returned and told us we had a “100 dollar” car but that he could help us get into a $9000 van if we had a few thousand to put down…The cheaper one we liked was apparently off the table…

Hey, We outta here…

My girl is off getting a better van for a better price right now as I compose this little review… Southe Pointe… It’s OK to turn us poor people down unless you lie about it and then become a complete ASS about the vehicle that we already have… There is no such thing as a $100 car unless it’s in the junk yard.  The blue book for the honda is about $2200 and the car run’s good… What is that guy talking about?

See Ya South Pointe…Wouldn’t wanna be ya….

GangLand TV - FSU and The OutLaws

Published by davestuff under General Edit This

A friend at work told me about the show gangland on the History Chanel . It sounded pretty groovy so I set up the DVR to check it..

I watched 2 episodes. One on the Outlaws Motorcycle Club and another on FSU. I didn’t really know either one of those gangs…

The Outlaws are as big as the Hell’s Angels in the mid west.  They are apparently adversaries of the Hell’s angels and into the life style 99% or they are 1%Rs as the saying goes… A guy that supports himself totally from the lifestyle. It is said that only 1% of motorcycle people actually do this..They are the TRUE outlaws. Or perhaps they are simply a guy without a real job.

FSU (Friend’s Stand United) are a bunch of punk rock fan’s that double as street fighting thugs…They are interesting as many of them are “straight edgers” That don’t use drug’s or drink booze. I suppose they cure their boredom by beating down drug dealers or white power punks by outnumbering the opponents or just plain ruthlessness.

They veiw themselves as vigilantes with no remorse for the violence because they are not robbing, drugging and stealing from good folks but from drug dealers and other criminals. Pretty interesting.

Is the show any good? It’s entertaining except for the way it is shot and the narrator. They seem to be really flashy with the pictures and footage… I guess they assume the gang’s themselves are not interesting enough on their own and have to add all of that quick photography and “lightning” flashes to keep us interested.

The narrarator always has some kind of obnouxous tone to his dilevery and constantly repeats himeself.. I suppose he believes we didn’t hear him the first time around. I’d prefer a more bias approach to the narration . Not that I agree with the gang’s agenda’s or anything. But these people do believe in what they are living.

Check it out and tell me what you think…

Review - Tropic Thunder

Published by davestuff under Movies Edit This

Well this movie sure got rave reviews…And controversy. I remember when it came out awhile back it was really talked about…Poking fun at retarded an/or fat people is a running theme. Whatever. Ridiculous really .

It really wasn’t all that funny…But I’m not a big comedy fan anyways… Sure, I like to laugh but full frontal comedies tend to bore me sometimes… I don’t seem to “get” all the jokes. That drug addict Robert Jr was pretty funny as a black guy..For a few minutes.

There was some entertainment value on this movie… It held my attention.. Some comedies just put me to sleep. But so do some drama’s What can a tired blue collar, hard working stiff to do? I just want to be entertained sometimes. And this one delivered OK.

Would I watch it again? Naw… If I didn’t crack up the first time around I doubt if I would the second. I got OTHER things to do…Ya dig?

Musicians Friend Online Music Gear

Published by davestuff under My Stuff Edit This

I used to buy music gear for my house back when I had money. I would usually look around locally but could always seem to be able to find a better price at musicians friend…  - Sad but true…

I always thought it would be very weird to buy a guitar online without ever playing it but here I am with 2 of em that I bought at musicians friend

Oh I had some problems with one of them…A blue acoustic electric. The guts to the electronics fell apart after just a few weeks and it wouldn’t work… I took it to a local shop but they said to simply “cut those guts out and use it as an acoustic only” -thanks buddy…

The guitar plays well but to get in there and fix that electric part seems impossible  as the sound hole is just too small…The parts just were not tightened up enough at the factory… And it is a cheap guitar which is the kind of gear I buy anyways…Cheap stuff… I figure only rock stars can afford $2000 guitars.

For the most part however I seem to have had pretty good luck from Musicians Friend… It’s fun to look around in there at all the goodies…And if you buy regularly they will send you a catalog that you can read like the Sears Wishbook… But hey! I need to start using the gear that I already have…Finish my newest project and post it on my free music website .
